The site is written for readers in Australia, in Australian English, referring to Australian regulators and Australian consumer rights. The publisher is not an Australian company, and we would rather say so here than have a reader discover it as a surprise. Enquiries reach the same address regardless of where you are.

What the site is for

To make one narrow purchase decision easier to think about. Consumer security software is sold in a way that discourages careful reading: the numbers used to compare products are not verifiable by the buyer, the pricing separates what you pay now from what you will pay later, and a good deal of the advertising works on alarm. A reader who wants to work out whether they need to spend anything at all is not well served by most of what is available.

So this site explains the category rather than ranking it. It sets out what the protection already on your devices does, what remains for a paid product, how the subscriptions are priced and cancelled, and where to go in Australia when something goes wrong. It is rewritten as a dated edition once a year; the current edition was last reviewed on 16 September 2026.

How coverage is decided

This is the part that matters most, so it is stated without softening.

Beacon Hub covers one product commercially: TotalAV. That is the only product this site links to, and the reason it appears here is that the publisher is paid a commission when a reader subscribes through that link. Where other software is named — the protection built into Windows, macOS, Android or iOS — it is described because a reader needs to know what they already have, not to rank it against anything.

How it is funded
